Drystone Wall 1 - Raised Beach - Harris, Isle of Rum

£150.00

(click on the images on the left to see in full)

On the west side of the Isle of Rum is Harris. It faces the Atlantic Ocean. One remarkable feature is the raised beach, now far above the current shoreline. It is made up of countless stones rounded by the action of seas thousands of years ago. Some have been used by man to create enclosures and it is these that caught my eye and form the basis of my painting. I loved the variety of shapes and colours and the way the stones are quite separate yet locked together.

An original painting in gouache

Size: 30 cm x 23 cm (on 42 cm x 30 cm paper)

Painted on smooth, heavyweight paper of 220 g/m2

Sold unframed

Price includes shipping within the UK
